This weekend in summary
Ok, a real update on this weekend.

Friday night we decided to go out to dinner and pick up a few things at Linens-N-Things. But when we got to LnT, they didn't have what we were looking for. So we decided to head up to Nashua, check out Target and Bed-Bath-and-Beyond and other places, and then get dinner up there. So once we finished with our shopping, we ended up at Outback for dinner.
In the parking lot, I noticed 'The Incredibles' on the sign for the Tyngsboro 12 movie theater. I was hit with a 'what was I thinking moment' as we've been looking forward to this movie for some time, and we decided that we had to go see it that night. In a word, incredible.
Ok, I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist. But seriously, the movie was amazing. We enjoyed it immensely, and I'd love to go see it again. I will definitely be buying the dvd. If you haven't gone to see it yet, and you think you might be at all interested, go. Now.

Saturday we spent the morning raking leaves and taking care of getting ready for winter. Which was nice to get done. That evening I went out to central MA to hang out with friends from college, ubiquity, Kelan and Ira had come from all over for one of their bi-annual gaming weekends. We played games all night, Go, Pictionary, Why Did The Chicken, Lord of the Rings, 4-player Stratego, Fluxx, Lunch Money, Cricket Cricket I'm on Fire, and more. I was there until 9:30 in the morning on Sunday, when I had to leave to get home to take care of a few more things around the house, take a nap, and then go down to my step-brother's house for dinner with him, his wife and my step-mother. We haven't seen them in a while, it was nice to catch up with them and see how they're doing.

It occurred to us Saturday night, that the one page summary of the last five years of your life, might be an interesting exercise (as we were filling each other in on what had been going on in our lives). I should write that down while it's still fresh in my head....

It was good to see you too! In case you couldn't tell, I had a lot of fun.
As I was writing that up, it occurred to me that I never got Ira's story ):

5 year synopsis
Sadly, I think I could summarize the last 5 years of my life with one word.

Glad you had fun this past weekend. I will be picking up The Incredibles the instant it comes out on DVD too.

cricket cricket
So, just for the heck of it, I was doing a google search for "cricket cricket I'm on fire", and found this journal entry.

I was the one who introduced this game to my circle of friends here in Seattle... and I have very vivid memories of the game in which my friend Mark interpreted a drawing of "Liar, liar, pants on fire" as "cricket cricket I'm on fire", which very quickly became the game's new name.

How on earth did this name make its way from Seattle to New England? Beautiful.

Re: cricket cricket
That's awesome. Thanks for leaving a comment. I have no idea how the game/name migrated across the country, but I love hearing about things like that.
