Just talked to my Dad on the phone. He is in Hawaii, and it sounds like he's having a pretty good time so far. He was pleased to discover that all the busses have wheelchair lifts. I had to agree that it was pretty impressive, and good for him. He seems to be liking the new electric wheelchair, but he said, "it's not as nice as the one I'm getting". I'm looking forward to seeing them again at thanksgiving, and hearing all about the trip.

On another note, getting ready for bed, blow my nose and I'm bleeding again. Sigh. Guess it's time a call an ENT to see about shoving a soldering iron up my nose. Fun fun fun...

ENT - Ear Nose & Throat
Soldering iron up my nose - getting my nose cauterized

I've had it done twice chemically (acid on a q-tip), but supposedly the soldering iron works better. We'll see....

They have a tendency to bleed for upwards of 30 minutes. And once the bleeding season starts, my nose will usually bleed any time I blow it. Fun fun fun.

Nothing to be too concerned about, it used to be true year round. At least now I only really bleed in the winter when it's dry.

I guess the less extreme "humidifier" solution to your nosebleeds doesn't work then? Grim.

I have issues with being dependent on a humidifier. While having one does reduce the frequency of my nose bleeds, and allows me to blow my nose on occasion, it's not enough.

My biggest fear is that the ENT is going to tell me that there are too many blood vessels, or that they're too major, and they can't be cauterized without risking real damage to the tissue in my nose.

but I won't find out unless I find one and make an appointment.
