Origins Wa!
Written on the way home yesterday:

Right now I'm sitting in the Pittsburgh airport, waiting for the second leg of my flight home from Origins.
I had a great time.

The Recap:

Got up at 3 am on Thursday, to get to Manchester for my 6 am flight. Arrived in Columbus around 10, by 11 I was at the convention, checked in, and hanging out in the lab.
I played several games in the lab, and discovered that we had access to a wireless network. (And there was much rejoicing, Yeah!)
Met up with Chris, one of the guys I was sharing a room with, and he went over to the hotel, checked in, and brought me back an extra key. After lots of Looney Labs games, and wandering around the Dealers hall, I made my way to the hotel, to go to bed around 2:30 am. Much to my dismay, my room key didn't work. Since I hadn't been to the hotel before, I wasn't sure I had the right room, and didn't want to wake up some stranger at that hour. So I went back down to the desk, to find that there was no one around that could help me.
Oh well, that left me little choice but to go back across to the Lab, and play "Are you a Werewolf" _all_ night long.
Friday, more LL games, and shopping. All told, I bought a boxed Zendo set, a Mega-Volcano board, a few Nano-blanx, and a set of Homeworlds Good and Evil Cards. I also picked up a G-8 game timer, and some dice (you can't go to a gaming convention, and not buy dice).
At noon on friday, I was supposed to be playing in a Fudge Deryni game. Alas, only one other person showed up, so the game was cancelled. It's a real shame too, as it was being GM'd by Ann Dupuis herself! (Owner of Grey Ghost Games, publisher of the majority of Fudge works.) Ann's great, and felt really guilty about having to cancel the game. It's ok thought, I was starting to get a little concerned that I really wouldn't get much out of it, as I'm not familiar with the Deryni setting at all.
Back to the lab for more rabbity-wa. The rest of the weekend is a blur of late nights in the lab playing Werewolf, making it to the Zarcana finals, and playing horribly in the Fourteenth International Icehouse tournament. (I was Icehoused in my first game, and only really started to recover by my last.) I really need to play more Icehouse in setting other than IIT.
Sunday brought the con to a close, and a lot of people were sad to see it end. I had a great time, it was really good to see all the other rabbit-types again. Maybe next year we'll have a big contingent come down from the Boston warren again. (Of course, Yvonne came from nowhere and earned the Cooler Than Ice Award, and Chris was the Dark horse that got into the finals, so the Boston crowd was definitely being represented.)
And that brings me back to here, ('When will then be now?", "Soon.") in the Pittsburgh airport. Too bad they don't have wireless, or I could post this up to LJ right now. I guess it'll have to wait until I get to work tomorrow though. Hopefully I'll remember. (Hey, at least I finished writing this one!)

It was great to see you! Too bad we didn't get to chat/game/hang out more. The weekend went by so fast.

Do you go to any other cons besides Origins and Arisia?

It is too bad we didn't get to hang out more.
Origins and Arisia are my only two cons at the moment. I might think about a couple other cons in the area, but so far, two is about right for me.
Are you going to be at Arisia again this year?

So you were the other person to get a Mega-Volcano board. Ross bought one, and we had to talk Adam out of buying the other one, on the theory that if there were only two of them for sale, both of the probably shouldn't come to Blacksburg.

Aha, so you're here, too.
Hi. 'S me.

Now that I know you're on LJ, consider yourself Friended. I
know I have no content, but Friend me back, anyway.
